Effective January 2023, Jon is a full time mediator and arbitrator.  He retired from private practice of law in December 2022 after nearly 43 years of civil trial work.  He was inducted into the American College of Trial Lawyers in 2019 after handling hundreds of trials, appeals and other legal matters.  His practice included insurance, real estate, tort, trade secrets and general litigation.  He received many other professional recognitions for ethics and legal work.  He is a frequent lecturer and instructor for continuing education courses.   Jon was on the board of directors of the Denver Dumb Friends League from 1986-1999.  He then served as a trustee of the Animal Assistance Foundation until 2009.  He is passionate about animal welfare and has devoted nearly 40 years to the betterment of life for all animals.

Jon is a Shareholder of Sweetbaum Sands PC and practices law in the area of civil litigation, including trials, appeals, and arbitrations. He’s an AV Preeminent (5.0 out of 5) rated lawyer by Martindale Hubbell. He’s been lead trial counsel in numerous jury and bench trials throughout Colorado and has extensive appellate practice. He teaches courses on insurance law and trial presentation and is a frequent lecturer for continuing education courses involving insurance bad faith, real estate litigation, and general litigation. He’s received numerous recognitions throughout his prestigious legal career. He’s served on the Board of Trustees for Animal Assistance Foundation since 1999, was a Board member and Board President for the Denver Dumb Friends League, and a Board member of the Colorado Humane Society.
