Sophie
Qualities - Sophie is a little Shih Tzu that came from Denver Dumb Friends League in June of 2022.
Sophie, who was badly neglected, was dropped in the overnight box at DDFL with a note saying that her owner was sick and in and out of hospitals and it wasn't fair to poor Sophie for her to continue living with her. Because of her advanced age (eleven at the time) and heart murmur, Sophie wasn't a strong candidate for adoption. Our board member, Jes Cytron, the lead Behaviorist at the League, suggested we take Sophie in to care for her for the time she had left.
Regardless of her severe heart condition and some skin issues, and the fact that she was deemed a 'hospice dog', Sophie has proven to be a time-tested trooper. We are determined to make her time with us blissful, and she has the affection in her delicate heart to accept all of the love we have to give. Now Sophie lives with her four brothers and is both the class clown and the ring leader of her pack. Nothing gets done without Sophie's approval. She is a teeny-tiny little gal, but she has a larger-than-life personality and we couldn't be more grateful to have Sophie in our lives.
Occupation - Her Highness of Treats
Likes/Dislikes - Sophie loves playing in the yard and getting fresh air. More to come as we learn more about her!
S.A.S.S.-ability - You can sponsor Sophie! Sponsoring a senior dog at PSDS offers the food, vaccines, medications and comfort these friends need during their Golden Years. This monthly gift offers not just hope...but a home, to these pups on their good days, their bad days, and their last days.
