About Us
Pepper’s Senior Dog Sanctuary (PSDS) is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that provides senior dogs a compassionate, FURever home at our veterinarian- supervised sanctuary.
Pepper’s exists to help ease the overcrowding of local shelters, while providing quality lifelong care to dogs who may have otherwise been euthanized. Senior dogs are referred to us by animal welfare organizations who have been unable to place a senior dog for adoption. From there, our dedicated team of volunteers and staff welcome these dogs to our loving sanctuary for the rest of their lives. Accepting dogs from animal welfare organizations, allows them to focus their space and resources on placing as many animals as possible.
Our onsite medical team has special training in rehabilitation and hospice care, allowing them to provide comprehensive medical care for our dogs. Treatments include routine examination, preventative care, acupuncture, physical rehabilitation (hydrotherapy, laser therapy, massage, etc), and surgery. When PSDS seniors reach the end of their life here with us, our team provides round the clock hospice care to ensure a peaceful and dignified passing.
Our community outreach programs allow PSDS and our dogs to give back to the community. Health, wellness, and community is at the heart of everything we do and our dogs enjoy working with these groups to share the love.

The Facility
Our sanctuary includes an indoor dog park separated for different enrichment activities that include lounging areas, play areas with enrichment and training activities, and a sensory garden that provides cues to help guide sensory impaired dogs with challenges related to location and proprioception (e.g., variegated flooring materials and textures, wind chimes, and water fountains). Our resident dogs spend the majority of the daytime in these areas.
Resident dogs sleep in communal bedrooms that are open throughout the day allowing dogs to have direct access to both group interaction or quiet time as they wish. No dog sleeps alone at night unless they prefer to be. Each bedroom has access to outdoor dog runs for dogs who prefer to stay in a bedroom during the day.
In addition to the year-round indoor space as described above, the sanctuary is located on 50 acres that consist of open fields with walking paths as well as an enclosed outdoor dog park and enclosed outdoor play yards to boost exercise and play.
A memorial garden serves as a place of remembrance of our friends who have crossed the rainbow bridge while offering space to volunteers, staff, and grief groups to connect and heal.
