Qualities -

Sophia Lucia is a twelve-year old Miniature Dachshund and is half of a bonded pair with her sister, Pearl (eleven years old). Sophia is a puppy mill survivor, and both Sophia and Pearl were rescued from our partner National Mill Dog Rescue in 2021. Teeny little nugget Sophia Lucia (because only the naughtiest dogs get two names in this household) was shy and slow to trust at first, but you would never know that if you met her today. Sophia has three teeth and still manages to retain the title of resident ankle-biter of the group. She has a heart of gold but is a little messed up from her years as a commercial breeding dog. Sophia is sweet when she wants to be, and strives to be the best snuggler in the world. She can often be found attached to her mother like Jabba the Hut's pet, Salacious Crumb!

Occupation -

Town Crier Extraordinaire. Sophia takes her job of making public pronouncements seriously. So seriously, as a matter of fact, that she likes to let everyone know when there has been a 'breach in security' at PSDS. FedEx, UPS, and unexpected visitors…you've been warned!

Likes/Dislikes -

Sophia loves being held, and adores being the center of attention. Most notably, she loves to bark…a lot! Her dislikes are uninvited or unexpected visitors to the sanctuary. Her skills as an 'early alert warning system' have become somewhat legendary here at PSDS!
